There is zero trekking on a Langtang helicopter charter — you stay comfortably in the cabin and walk only a short distance at the stopover. But the high altitude means you still need to pack smartly. Here is our complete checklist.

Dress in Layers

At Kyanjin Gompa (3,830m) and Gosaikunda (4,380m), temperatures can be freezing even in spring and autumn, especially with wind chill. Build a simple three-layer system: a moisture-wicking base layer, an insulating mid-layer (fleece or down), and a windproof outer shell. Gloves and a warm hat are essential.

Sun & Glare Protection

  • Sunglasses — critical to block intense snow glare, even on overcast days.
  • SPF 50+ sunscreen — UV is dramatically stronger at altitude.
  • Wide-brim hat or cap for extra shade.

Cameras & Electronics

You will want to capture the aerial views of the Langtang Lirung glaciers and the sacred Gosaikunda lakes. Bring a camera with a spare battery — cold drains batteries fast — and plenty of memory. A phone with a sturdy case works perfectly for most shots.

Weight Limits & Cabin Rules

Helicopter payload is strictly regulated for high-altitude safety. The average weight limit is 85–90kg per passenger. Bags are limited to soft, light daypacks (typically up to 5kg) that stow safely in the cabin. Coordinate any special cargo or ski/trek gear with operations before departure.
